Prof. Sinha delivers an invited lecture in Nagercoil, India as part of the ACM Distinguished Speaker programme

Dr. G. R. Sinha, Professor, MIIT, is an ACM Distinguished Speaker in the field of digital signal processing for the period 2017-20. As part of this programme, he is often invited to deliver lectures and talks at other institutions and universities.

On September 11, 2018, Prof. Sinha delivered an invited lecture at St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering, Nagercoil, India on the topic of “Developing employability skills using ICT tools”. He was there in his capacity as an ACM Distinguished Speaker. The lecture was supposed to happen on September 10, but it had to be postponed on account of an India-wide bandh on that day.

The talk was attended by nearly 200 students from various disciplines. Several faculty members were also present. A sizeable fraction of the students had not been exposed to such ideas as goal-setting, developing communication skills, etc. and as such this seminar was a good starting point for them.

Prof. Sinha was floored by the hospitality of his hosts, especially Mr. Ascar – the coordinator of the ACM student chapter at the institute – who left no stone unturned in making sure that Prof. Sinha’s visit was pleasant and comfortable.
