On September 7, 2019, MIIT Mandalay made history by conducting the first ever computer-based entrance examination in the history of Myanmar education for admissions to its Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) programme.

Convocation ceremony for the second and third batches of the PGDSD programme conducted

On the sidelines of the second meetings of the MIIT Governing Council and the MIIT Senate, the convocation ceremony for the second and third batches of the Postgraduate Diploma in Software Development (PGDSD) programme was organised at MIIT. Dr. Thein Win, Director-General, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar was the Chief Guest.

New campus of MIIT inaugurated in Mandalay

The new campus of MIIT was inaugurated by U Sai Mauk Kham, Vice President, Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Ko Ko Oo, Union Minister of Education, representatives from various ministries of the Union and Mandalay Regional Governments, and rectors of several Myanmar universities. The Indian delegation was led by the Ambassador of India in Myanmar, Mr. Gautam Mukhopadhyaya, and attended by Dr. N. Nandakumar, Consul-General of India in Mandalay, Dr. Neil Jain, First Secretary, Embassy of India in Yangon, and Dr. K. R.V. “Raja” Subramanian, Director, MIIT. Dr. Mie Mie Khin, Pro-Rector of MIIT, accompanied the faculty, students, and alumni of MIIT.

The first batch of the PGDSD programme started at IIIT-B in May, 2014 with 25 students. 5 Myanmar faculty members were also sponsored as part of the faculty development programme.

First batch of PGDSD students selected through a computer-based entrance exam at Yangon and Mandalay

The first programme of MIIT – the PGDSD programme – was decided to be started in May 2014. Students were selected through an entrance exam conducted in Yangon and Mandalay. Over 200 applicants participated, and 30 students were selected.
