Course Objectives

  • Enable students to understand different kinds of writings
  • Strengthen sentence structures
  • Enable students to build longer texts, and build and take part in dialogues
  • Distinguish between formal and informal communication
  • Develop reading and listening comprehension skills that will help the students increase the use of cognitive strategies to build knowledge from text and lectures

Course Description

  • Passive voice: giving simple directions and instructions
  • Simple, complex, and compound sentences
  • Converting short dialogues into narrative passages
  • Contracted forms
  • Homonyms and homophones
  • Descriptive writing
  • Letter writing (formal, informal, e-mail)
  • Reading and listening comprehension
